The two-season problem

A room you visit less than your attic.

Most conservatories are built right but roofed wrong. Single-skin glass or polycarbonate means one room, two extremes.

In winter

An icebox. Too cold to sit in from October to March, and an expensive corridor adding to your heating bills the whole time.

In summer

A greenhouse. Too hot to use by mid-morning, with glare on every screen and rain so loud on the roof you cannot hear the television.

What we do

A proper room, not a plastic box.

We take the sweltering hot, noisy roof off and build a fully insulated, plastered, tiled one in its place. The frame and glass stay; the room finally behaves like the rest of your house.

  • Keeps your existing frame, glass and footprint
  • Fully insulated, plastered and ready to decorate
  • Warm in winter, comfortable in summer
  • Quiet in the rain, no more drumming

The spec, in plain numbers

We don't use thin foil. We use 150mm of insulation.

Most of the difference between a warm room and a cold one is what goes in the roof. Here is exactly what goes in ours, against the standard kit roof.

A lower U-value means a warmer room. Ours beat the 0.18 W/m²K most kit roofs are built to, so the room stays usable on the coldest nights.

How it works

Three to five days, start to finish.

No subcontractors and no three-month building site. Our own team strips the old roof, builds the new insulated structure, then plasters and finishes it, usually within a week.

  • A quick site visit and a clear fixed price
  • We strip the old glass or polycarbonate roof
  • C24 timber frame and 150mm PIR insulation go in
  • Plastered, lit and signed off, MFA certified

Why Cheshire Bespoke

Built by people you can name.

We are a Cheshire family firm with over twenty years behind us, not a national franchise. The person who quotes the job is the person who stands behind it.

  • Director-led and family-run, over 20 years' experience
  • MFA certified and signed off on every install
  • Our own in-house team, never subcontractors
  • No commission salesmen, no pressure

What our customers say

★★★★★

4.9 out of 5, from 55+ reviews across Google, Trustpilot and Facebook.

★★★★★
Old roof off, the huge steel gutter in, and watertight on day one. Tiled, insulated and plastered by the end of day two. Such a well oiled machine. It has completely transformed our cold, condensation-filled, leaky conservatory.

We replaced our polycarbonate roof with a fully insulated tiled roof and plaster ceiling. Fair price, and the quality of the work was outstanding. We asked four companies to quote, and CBC were the best from the first consultation to completing the job.

★★★★★
My job is to find the flaws in how things are run, so I am trained to spot problems. Commissioning CBC was a pleasure and everything went smoothly. Clear quote, clear communication, genuine value for money against two other quotes, and it was all done and tidied up well within the timeframes promised. A quality team, well managed.

Honest answers

The questions everyone actually asks.

Will it make the room dark?

You lose some overhead glare, not the light. We plan rooflights into the design where they help, so you keep a bright room without the greenhouse effect. Most people are surprised how light it stays.

Will I get a hard sell?

No. We send craftsmen, not commission salespeople. You get a clear price and honest advice, not a three-hour pitch or a 'let me call my manager' discount game. We are a Cheshire family firm and most of our work comes by referral.

Will the paperwork be right when I sell?

Yes. Every conversion is MFA certified and signed off to Building Regulations, so you have the certificate you need when you come to sell. We handle the building control side for you, with no cheap clad-over shortcuts.

Should I just build an extension instead?

If you want a brand new footprint, an extension makes sense, at roughly £40,000 to £60,000 and three months of work. A roof conversion gives you a warm, year-round room in three to five days, for a fraction of that, using the space you already have.

How much does a conservatory roof conversion cost?

It depends on the size and shape of your conservatory and the finish you want. We give you a clear fixed price after a quick site visit, with no obligation. Ask for a quote and we will talk you through it.

How long does it take, and how messy is it?

Most conversions take three to five days. The work is mainly external and our in-house team keeps it tidy, so you can carry on using your home while we are there.
